• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Am I doing something wrong? Also Zhorken, I think that's just people forgetting that Negrek changed the way flinching works here.

Is it at all possible to wait out a pokémon with stall? Would negative speed modifiers affecting the non-stall pokémon help in any way? EDIT: Also, since mean look "stops the opponent from going intangible", does that mean it affects phasing in any way (prevents phasing, makes phased pokémon...

Is it possible to have a ghost phase before a battle starts? More generally, is that the same sort of thing as asking a consensually flying/hovering pokémon to start a battle already in the air, or similar? And I know you answered my earlier asked-elsewhere question about taunt stopping phasing...

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

Yes, as long as the pokémon doesn't need to come up for air in that amount of time; yes; yes. Whether or not your opponent could see you would depend on how clear and deep the water in question was, but you wouldn't automatically become undetectable just because you used the move. If you were in...

Bounce would probably be a special case that would depend on the situation, the ref and the pokémon, but I certainly wouldn't allow it to be delayed more than a single action at the absolute longest unless the pokémon was capable of flight or levitation anyway; even then that would sort of...

Actions, sorry. Derp, I've been at this long enough that I should know better. :B Of course, you could always delay the resurfacing as long as you like such that the attack's duration ends up lasting for several rounds anyway. And, just as a reminder, all ingame two-turn attacks are executed...

It is usually done in one turn, not two, unless the trainer specifies that they want a delay. If it's done in two turns the energy cost should be split between the two, but the damage is not affected.

Ghosts were only immune to bide in Gen II. Apparently it can also hit semi-invulnerable pokémon but eh.

You should declare your replacement when you declare the move. The action on which you switch still needs to be completed, and the opponent's attack may still need a target, etc..

And Negrek says that that isn't happening. Kam is mistaken.

    Attacks and Abilities Guide

You used to be able to activate your own flash fire (and possibly guts, don't remember anyone ever trying that) but Negrek changed the rules at some point so that you couldn't. So no, you can't trigger any of your own status/hit-by-an-attack abilities at all.

No, I'd meant literally flinching, as in what snore's effect does; I was just curious because if the sub's creator is still in play then theoretically it should still hear the sound-based move, and I wouldn't think that snore is directed the way, say, sonic boom is. But okay! I guess it's just a...

Substitute the way it's normally reffed (as opposed to the way I usually ref it with the user actually leaving play) doesn't do a particularly effective job of avoiding sound-based moves, right? Specifically, you can't use one to attempt to avoid flinching from something like snore? I'm sure the...

Confused about pluck and bug bite. Why don't they have the same effect (i.e. pluck doubles damage, destroys items and consumes berries while bug bite only destroys items)? Is that intentional? Also, I'm pretty sure that "double damage if target is holding a berry" is not an effect either move...

Theoretically the ref could choose to decide how happy it is on a scale of 0 to 255. Honestly I find that a little overelaborate, though; I haven't had to ref return and frustration in a while so I don't exactly remember, but I think I usually just pick a number on a scale of 1 (10 base power)...

No. Likewise, mirror coat cannot hit a dark-type.

Actually, if memory serves I've seen a few refs that have rest gradually recover health but, for reasons I don't remember, actually don't have it restore up to 100%. It's been a while since I've seen that, though, so I doubt anyone who's actively reffing does. Regardless, ask your ref which...

I don't think that's quite what he's asking. I think he means that if a pokémon is fast enough to create, say five clones in one go, and already has five clones, he's not sure if it could create any more clones at all. And yes, it could. That limit only applies to the number of clones created at...

Thought I just had: are we allowed to use Dream World-exclusive moves or are those a special case akin to the abilities? Some of them just appear to be moves that the pokémon were able to learn previously but can't anymore due to TM/tutor changes (e.g. giga drain natu), so those would obviously...

I can say from experience that yes, it does.
